FAQ + Specs

The in’s and outs, and everything in between.

Opaque Window Graphics are customizable prints that provide excellent blockout of reverse graphics, allowing for distinct images on each side of a single sheet. They are printed with UV inks on an 8mil opaque film, backed with a 1mil clear adhesive, totaling 9mil in thickness.

They are widely used in various sectors such as:

  • Retail for promotional displays
  • Events for directional or informational signage
  • Restaurants for menu or decor
  • Travel/Hospitality for branding or offers
  • Healthcare for privacy or information

No, they are not see-through. The 8mil opaque window graphics offer solid blockout coverage, making them ideal for displaying vibrant graphics without transparency issues.

The adhesive is always on the back of the print. For double-sided graphics, the side labeled “back” will have the adhesive, allowing for inside window mounting to be viewed from the outside.

When applied to standard window glass, the removable adhesive lasts up to 6 months, or 1 year if left in the same location, under normal exposure conditions.

The width ranges from 6" to 50", and the height from 6" to 120", providing a wide array of sizing to meet your specific needs.

We offer 4/0 (full color on the front) and 4/4 (full color on both sides), ensuring vibrant and eye-catching graphics.

Yes, you have the option to mount from the inside or outside, depending on your preference and the intended use.

The standard turnaround time is next business day, and for more complex orders, it’s 7 business days.

Ensure the surface is clean and dry. For best results, apply the graphics to a smooth, non-textured glass surface.

They are designed for single use due to the adhesive backing. However, they can be removed and repositioned within the initial application period if necessary.

We use UV inks which are more environmentally friendly compared to solvent-based inks, and the materials are selected with sustainability in mind.

They require minimal maintenance. Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth without harsh chemicals.

Our team is available to assist with design services and provide guidance on installation to ensure your graphics look their best.

Opaque Window Graphics, window clings, perforated window vinyl, calendared window vinyl, and cast vinyl are all distinct types of window signage with their own advantages:

  • Opaque Window Graphics: These are printed on an 8mil opaque film with a 1mil clear adhesive, offering excellent blockout coverage. They are not see-through and allow for two different images to be printed back-to-back on a single sheet. Ideal for when you need a solid background without transparency.
  • Window Clings: Made from a thin vinyl film that adheres to surfaces using static cling rather than an adhesive. They are easy to remove and reposition, suitable for temporary promotions. Opaque window clings provide a frosted look and are not see-through.
  • Perforated Window Vinyl: Known as one-way vision film, this material has tiny holes that allow for one-way visibility. From the outside, the printed design is visible, but from the inside, viewers can see out. It’s great for privacy and advertising at the same time.
  • Calendared Window Vinyl: A more rigid vinyl that’s suitable for short to medium-term applications. It’s less expensive than cast vinyl and easier to handle and apply due to its rigidity.
  • Cast Vinyl: This is a premium vinyl that’s known for its durability and flexibility. It’s produced by pouring the vinyl into a casting sheet and then processing it through ovens, which makes it highly conformable and ideal for complex surfaces. Cast vinyl is typically used for high-quality, long-term graphics and is more resistant to shrinking and environmental conditions compared to calendared vinyl.

Each type serves different purposes, and the right choice depends on factors like visibility, permanence, and whether the graphics will be viewed from one side or both sides of the window. Opaque Window Graphics are best for full privacy and double-sided designs, window clings for temporary and repositionable signage, perforated window vinyl for one-way visibility, calendared window vinyl for cost-effective, shorter-term applications, and cast vinyl for high-end, long-lasting installations.

THE PROS & CONS

What You'll Love

  • Privacy: Provides complete privacy by blocking visibility through the windows from both inside and outside.
  • Customizable: Can be printed with custom designs, logos, or branding for a personalized look or promotional purposes.
  • UV Protection: Helps to block out harmful UV rays, protecting interior furnishings from fading and reducing heat gain.
  • Durable: Made from a sturdy material that is resistant to tears and can last for several years with proper care.
  • Easy to Install: Can be easily applied to any smooth glass surface without the need for professional installation.
  • Cost-Effective: A cost-effective alternative to frosted or etched glass that achieves a similar aesthetic.

Points to Ponder

  • Limited Natural Light: Blocks natural light from entering the space, which may require additional lighting.
  • Permanent Look: Once installed, it’s difficult to remove and may leave residue on the glass.
  • Design Limitations: While customizable, the designs are limited to the vinyl’s surface area and cannot be as intricate as other methods.
  • Maintenance: Requires regular cleaning to maintain appearance and prevent dirt buildup.
  • Not for All Glass Types: May not adhere well to certain types of textured or treated glass surfaces.
  • Temperature Sensitivity: Extreme temperatures can affect the vinyl’s adhesion and may lead to peeling or bubbling.
